Experienced Civil Engineer

The Role:
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced and capable individual to join our team of engineers. We are looking to appoint an experienced individual who can make an immediate contribution to the team. 

The successful applicant will be required to operate as part of a team, working alongside our other Engineers, to fulfil works for major oil companies and & independent customers based anywhere in the UK & Ireland.

The successful applicant will be required to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The duties within this post will require a high level of manual work, attention to detail and dedication when working with customers, clients and colleagues alike.

The successful applicant will be provided with a van, all protective clothing & equipment, and all required training for the role. When working away from home, accommodation and a meal allowance will be provided. 

The applicant will be required to work flexible hours to suit the business needs, these will regularly be between 6am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. As the need arises, the applicant will be required to stay away overnight. Weekend working may also be required to fulfil project requirements. 

Main Tasks of this Role:
To satisfy the duties of site supervisor / lead operative when the occasion is presented.

Carry out near miss & potential incident reporting. In-house training will be provided. 

Respond to callouts for critical issues.

Act as part of team in the decommissioning of fuel tanks & installations. 

Undertake all types of pipework installation. 

Operating Company vehicles for which the applicant is qualified. Part of this responsibility will include ensuring that vehicle checks are undertaken prior to commencing works, submitting the reports as required and alerting supervisors as soon as damage is identified. 

Vehicles, PPE and tools are to be kept in good working order and to be available for use at all times. 

This is not an exhaustive list and the applicant will be required to undertake additional tasks as instructed by supervisors. Training and experience will be taken into account. 

Knowledge & Experience: 
Applicants should have experience in a hands-on, technical role, with good technical knowledge and understanding. 

Knowledge of clean and wastewater drainage networks, excavating and reinstating, experience of working with levels and being able to determine fall gradients, being able to work from site plans. Ideally have knowledge and experience in installing below ground storage tanks and ground support systems. 

Experience concrete finishing, kerbing and installing drainage channels will be a bonus

The successful applicant will have experience in a similar environment, along with relevant specialist training such as UKPIA, CPCS, NVQ Level 2 in Drainage and Groundworks, SSSTS, would be highly advantageous but not essential as training can be provided. 

Applicants should have previous knowledge and experience of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work as a team but also have the confidence to work independently as required. 

Applicants should be IT literate as there will be the need to compose/edit site reports. Paperwork submission expected to be accurate and in a timely fashion. 

Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to undertake additional training. 

As the applicant will need to travel, a clean UK driving license is essential
